Tver Carriage Works Received Certification for RIC Coaches
OREANDA-NEWS. December 21, 2012. Tver Carriage Works (JSC TVZ), a part of CJSC Transmashholding, has received a compliance certificate for RIC passenger sleeping coach from Federal Railway Certification Register.
JSC TVZ and JSC Russian Railways entered into supply agreement for 200 RIC coaches in August, 2009. TVZ implements the Project jointly with Siemens. 61-4467 model RIC coaches (Regolamento Internazionale delle Carrozze) are designated for international traffic.
A full set of certification tests of 61-4476 model coaches have been carried out to ensure compliance with all Russian requirements regarding sanitary norms, passenger comfort, fire safety, safety in operation, ecology, prior to certification granting. At the same time, certification tests have been done to confirm compliance with European standards, and respective certificates have been obtained for coaches operation in Europe.
New coaches are equipped with two sets of bogies for Russian and European gauge. Bogies of new generation installed on coaches are designated for speed up to 160 km/h with possible acceleration up to 200 km/h. Bogies are provided with quick electric and pneumatic connectors to minimize bogies replacement time.
Side entrance doors in coaches are of sliding-plug type with electric drive. They have steps that provide passengers with easy access to platforms of any height.
Coach consists of eight four-berth compartments. Sleeping berths may be easily adjusted for day and night positions. Wash basin is installed under window table cover in accordance with European requirement.
RIC coaches are equipped with air conditioning system for comfortable interior environment. A separate temperature regulator is installed in each compartment.
The issued certificate validates high quality and compliance of products built by Tver car manufacturers and Siemens specialists with current Russian safety norms. It grants a right for production of coaches to be transferred to JSC Federal Passenger Company (wholly-owned subsidiary of JSC Russian railway) until the end of 2014.
