OREANDA-NEWS. December 21, 2012. OMZ Special Steels, part of OMZ Group, has launched operations on two brand-new lathes with NC HL-28x16D, produced by HNK Machine Tool Co., Ltd (South Korea) with Siemens 840DE controls.

The new lathes will machine rotor-shaft slabs weighing up to 160 tons with width of up to 16m. Commissioning of the new equipment will increase the share of machined workpieces in the company’s production volumes. Modern lathes allow finishing of workpieces by providing the necessary approvals in full compliance with the requirements of the customers.

The lathes are purchased on lease terms from CJSC Forpost-Management. Total expenses including the purchase, production of sub-structures, utilities, mounting and launch constituted more than 505 million roubles. The works are performed by CJSC Remmash.
