RSPP Qualified MegaFon Social Report
OREANDA-NEWS. December 18, 2012. The Social Report of MegaFon has been qualified by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP); it has been awarded the opinion of public assurance and listed by RSPP.
The members of the RSPP Nonfinancial Board has viewed the report of MegaFon and drawn a conclusion of significance and entirety of its information. Based on the analysis, the Board confirmed that the Social Report 2011 of MegaFon contained significant information on social and economic aspects of responsible business practice in compliance with the principles of the Russian Business Social Charter. The Board recommended to pay future in the future attention to a more balanced reflection of information on economic, environmental and social components, as well as extend the number of exposed indicators.
“For us this is very important to receive opinion of our social activities from the side public and professional organizations. MegaFon applies its best efforts to implement the social programs; now there is another evidence that we advance in the right direction. This is crucial to realize that any CRS based activity must be comprehensive and consistent, which suggests that the business has become mature and provides for the company a real socially responsible status. We appreciate the recommendations given by RSPP, which we’ll take into account for the next report,” says Roman Prokolov, head of social programs and special projects of MegaFon.
Elena Feoktistova, director of the RSPP Corporate Social Responsibility and Nonfinancial Statements Center also gave her comment: “Voluntary nonfinancial statements have become an element of global and national business-making culture based on responsible business practice. MegaFon as a telecom sector leader joined the process, released its first social report reflecting the company’s position in respect of corporate social responsibility including the key principles of strategy in the area and generating idea of business practice and fundamental results of activities. Therefore, we’ve made an important move towards improvement of information transparency and development of dialog with the parties concerned.”
The Social Report 2011 included the principles of corporate social responsibility of the company and their implementation in the accounting period. The Report consists of five principal chapters including the description of the company’s principles in the area of CSR, charity and environmental projects, responsible conduct of business, support and development of the team of employees and the principles of partnership. A big section of the report has been dedicated to coverage of social and charity projects of grand social importance realized by the company in 2011.
