OREANDA-NEWS. December 18, 2012. On 14 December, State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom and Trans-Baikal Territory concluded a Cooperation Agreement aimed at social and economic development of Krasnokamensk. The document was signed by Sergey Kirienko, Director General of State Corporation Rosatom and Ravil Geniatulin, Governor of Trans-Baikal Territory. Conclusion of the agreement coincided with the officials’ visit to Krasnokamensk during commissioning of the first-phase facilities of Mine No.8 at JSC PIMCU. Enterprise is operated by ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. which is Rosatom’s mining arm.

The signed agreement provides joining of PIMCU to Rosatom’s consolidated group of taxpayers. Thus, it is expected to significantly increase tax revenues into the budget of Trans-Baikal Territory. In its turn, the regional administration will invest a considerable part of these funds in the development of Krasnokamensk, where the majority of JSC PIMCU staff resides. “Money spending priorities should be defined collectively. These will primarily depend on requirements of people who live in Krasnokamensk,” highlighted Sergey Kirienko during the signing ceremony. “Taxes return to where they have been earned,” noted Ravil Geniatulin.

Key projects to be financed within the framework of the agreement include construction of new sports facilities and preschool institutions as well as renovation of existing ones. Also funds will go to the upgrade of the municipal hospital, building of a motor road between Krasnokamensk and Matsievskaya, and modernization of the local airport. In 2013, it is expected to additionally allocate approximately RUB 450 mln. for these purposes.
