OREANDA-NEWS. December 18, 2012.  Rusatom Overseas, a subsidiary of State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM, became the collective member of the Czech Nuclear Society (CNS).

Membership can help to deepen the cooperation between Czech and Russian companies and institutions in the areas of science, research and construction of nuclear power plants, which utilize the VVER technology. All six Czech units at Temelin NPP and Dukovany NPP are based on this technology.

“The Czech Nuclear Society is one of the most important Czech organizations dealing with the nuclear energy, and that is why we consider our membership to be extremely important. The Society associates Czech companies and institutions which have rich experience with our technologies, so there is much to build on,” says Zdenek Shima, Director of the Czech branch of Rusatom Overseas.

“The main aim of the Czech Nuclear Society is to help with education in the nuclear energy sphere and to spread objective information about this area. Of course we welcome the membership of Rusatom Overseas, because Czech nuclear energy traditionally stems from Russian technologies,” says Danesh Burket, President of CNS.

“It is not only that the VVER technology is applied at all units of Temelнn NPP and Dukovany NPP. Rosatom is currently one of the top companies in the development of innovative projects in nuclear energy. Thanks to Rusatom Overseas membership in the Czech Nuclear Society the Czech expert public will have the possibility to learn more about these technologies,” explains Miroslav Kawalec, the Vice-President for programme affairs.

Two daughter companies of Rosatom, Atomstroyexport and OKB Gidropress, participate in the tender for Temelin NPP completion under the leadership of Czech company SKODA JS as the Consortium MIR.1200. “Thanks to the cooperation with the Czech Nuclear Society we can deepen the communication with Czech expert and wide public about the project of extraordinarily safe and effective nuclear power plant, which is offered by the Consortium MIR.1200 and which will support the whole Czech industry”, adds Leosh Tomichek, Executive Vice-President of Rusatom Overseas.
