Chongqing Customs claimed that, from January to November 2012, export and import values of Chongqing foreign trade hit USD 49.08 billion, a y-o-y increase of 92.8%, ranking the second nationwide. Total export of Chongqing from January to November hit USD 35.78 billion, ranking the tenth nationwide and the first in central and western China.

From January to November, export of mechanical and electrical products in Chongqing reached USD 23.55 billion, increasing by 1.1 times on year-on-year basis and accounting for 65.8% of total export of Chongqing during this period. Among these mechanical and electrical products, 31.836 million notebook computers were exported, increasing by 1.4 times on year-on-year basis; total value of these notebook computers was USD 11.21 billion, increasing by 1.6 times on year-on-year basis.

Export of notebook computers also promoted import of relevant electronic products. It was learned that Chongqing imported integrated circuits worth USD 3.66 billion from January to November, increasing by 1.3 times on year-on-year basis, as well as automatic data processing equipment and relevant components together worth USD 1.5 billion, increasing by 2.2 times on year-on-year basis.
