Ukraine Attracted UAH 21 bn into Energy Efficiency
OREANDA-NEWS. December 14, 2012. Over the past two years, there have been attracted UAH 21 billion of investment funds in energy efficiency and renewable energy. This was announced by Mykola Pashkevich, Chairman of State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine during a briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Dec. 14.
"Thanks to the intensification of energy efficient projects implementation in industry there have managed to attract about UAH 21 billion of investment funds, including 5 billion - just for the first half of 2012. Overall, against a hryvnia spent by the state budget, there have been attracted on average 23 hryvnias of investment money," said Mykola Pashkevich.
The Agency head also said that under the State Target Economic Program on energy efficiency and development of energy production from renewable energy sources and alternative fuels for 2010-2015, and under 15 branch, 26 regional and 49 budgetary energy efficiency programs there have been implemented over 12 thousand energy efficiency measures. There have been reached the energy production reducing in 123 kinds of products as well as been saved about 4.4 billion cu m of natural gas.
According to Mykola Pashkevich, over recent years, there have rapidly been increased using renewable energies and alternative fuels as well.
"The total capacity of renewable energy facilities is increased 4-fold for two years, from 146 MW up to 576 MW. During 2011 and 10 months of 2012, they produced 995 million kilowatt/hour of electricity, 1.2 million tons of solid biofuels and 49 thousand tons of liquid biofuels," said the Agency Chairman.
