OREANDA-NEWS. December 14, 2012. Belarus is planning to invest 64 trillion rubles (USD 7.485 billion at the NBB rate) in agribusiness modernisation by 2015, First Deputy Agriculture Ministre Leonid Marinich told journalists on Wednesday.

As a result of a large-scale upgrading programme, Belarus’ milk yield is expected to reach 10 million tonnes by 2015 (5.798 million tonnes in January-October 2012) and 12.5 million tonnes by 2020. the annual output of meat is expected to reach 2.7 million tonnes by 2020 (1.252 million tonnes in January-October 2012). According to the forecast, in 2012 the output of livestock sector should total 1.62 million tonnes (7.8% up on the year).

Presently 83 agricultural companies in Belarus (7% of the total number) are rated as highly efficient, while 22% are inefficient.
