OREANDA-NEWS. December 13, 2012. Ukrainian-American working group on scientific and technological cooperation is an effective tool for interaction of scientists of the two countries with the most promising areas of innovation. Today we turn to the implementation of major research programs in nuclear medicine and intensify cooperation in the field of materials science and space sciences, the Chairman of the State Agency on Science, Innovations and Informatization of Ukraine Volodymyr Semynozhenko said at the opening of the third meeting of the Ukrainian-American working group on science and technology cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Ukraine John Tefft. He noted that Ukraine is a key partner for the U.S. in the field of science and praised the potential of Ukrainian programmers, physicists and mathematicians. John Tefft said that under current conditions it is science gives a real chance the economy; hence one of the main areas of cooperation between the countries should be the development of innovation infrastructure and commercialization of research activities.

The work of the Ukrainian-American Task Force on Science and Technology was established in 2010. The Group forms the priorities of scientific and technical cooperation between Ukraine and the United States and identifies new areas of cooperation and it also coordinates the implementation of joint projects. Much attention is paid to educational exchanges and training of young scientists and innovators. In particular, during today's meeting speeches and presentations of members of the Small Academy of Sciences were held, as well as an exhibition of experimental works of young inventors.
