OREANDA-NEWS. December 12, 2012. Constituent Assembly of Association of Silkworm Breeders and Silk Fabrics Production “Uzbekistan Ipagi” has been held in Tashkent, UzA reported.

Representatives of Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management of Uzbekistan, Uzbekyengilsanoat, Scneiticif-research silkworm breeding institute, Tashkent institute for textile and light industry, Forum of Social Responsible Citizens of Uzbekistan, silk enterprises and others participated at the event.

Association of Silkworm Breeders and Silk Fabrics Production “Uzbekistan Ipagi” will be directed at developing the sector and strengthening feed base, creating new type of silk, ensuring quality of silk yarns. This will help to sell silk yarn based on market principles, increase silk processing and export, etc.

The charter of Association of Silkworm Breeders and Silk Fabrics Production “Uzbekistan Ipagi” has been approved and Agzam Abdullaev, head of Yodgorlik enterprise, has been elected as chairperson of the Association.

Some 44,000 farms in Uzbekistan produced 443,500 boxes of silkworm eggs and more than 25,000 tonnes of silk threads were produced in 2012. Main part of them were high grade silk.
