OREANDA-NEWS. December 11, 2012. Ukraine International Airlines celebrated the 20th anniversary of its operations. 25 November 1992, when UIA operated its first ever Kiev – London – Kiev flight is considered to be the airline’s birthday, reported the press-centre of UIA.

In 20 years of successful operations UIA has worked its way up from a small company with two aircraft and a hundred employees to a powerful international carrier – well-positioned and well-known in Europe and worldwide – with over one thousand six hundred employees. Today Ukraine International Airlines is Ukraine’s leading airline. UIA is a classic European carrier offering its clients a range of convenient and reliable air transportation services – both scheduled and charter passenger flights and cargo/mail transportation. Safety and reliability of operations are UIA`s number one priority: in 2005 UIA became the first airline in Ukraine and the CIS countries to have successfully completed an International Air Transport Association operational safety audit and to have been awarded the IOSA certificate, which has been confirmed on a biannual basis ever since.

The airline is rightfully proud of providing passengers with the best service and comfort and offering a great selection of travel opportunities. UIA`s extensive route map is the result of a fruitful cooperation and partnership with many airlines worldwide: today the airline operates code-share flights with 11 leading carriers and has over 150 interline agreements with other airlines across the world. UIA established 40 representative offices in Ukraine and abroad, and tickets for UIA flights can be purchased in over 70 countries.

UIA celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2012 with a modern fleet consisting of 20 Boeing – 737 aircraft. The airline connects Ukraine with 40 capitals and key cities of Europe, Asia, Africa, and the CIS, providing connections with its international partners’ flights to over 3,000 destinations worldwide. UIA operates over 700 international and domestic flights per week. In 20 years of operations, our passenger traffic exceeded 16 million passengers carried; in 2012 UIA passenger traffic is expected to reach almost 3 million passengers.

“Within the period of twenty years of operations UIA has become an example of a successful, advanced and highly-competitive aviation business. UIA was the first Ukrainian carrier to start operating Boeing – 737 aircraft, including Boeing 737 – 800 New Generation aircraft, to pass the audit for compliance with operational safety requirements and to receive an IOSA certificate, to offer its passengers the Panorama Club loyalty program, to publish Ukraine’s first in-flight magazine, Panorama, to implement innovative technologies into E-commerce and technical maintenance operations, – noted Yuri Miroshnikov, UIA President. – Undoubtedly, the airline owes its ongoing success to the most important people in our business – our passengers. We promise to continue offering our customers a flexible pricing policy, convenient flight schedules, high-quality service, and traditional Ukrainian hospitality on board our aircraft and we are committed to proudly carry the flag of our country on the aircraft fuselage”.
