Ukraine, Lithuania to Develop Trade and Economic Relations
OREANDA-NEWS. December 10, 2012. In the framework of fourteenth meeting of the Ukrainian-Lithuanian commission for trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Kornienko and Minister of Economy of Lithuania Rimantas Zhylyus sides reached agreements on the development of international relations.
"Trade and economic relations between Ukraine and Lithuania are developing at a very high level. The aim of our meeting to result in economies of both countries showed extremely positive trend"- Volodymyr Kornienko said.
In particular, Ukraine and Lithuania agreed constantly exchange information on potential areas of investment in the economy of both countries and the possible ways of cooperation in investment projects.
During the meeting a number of transport issues were discussed.
Ukrainian transport engineering companies expressed interest in cooperation with companies of Lithuania on repair of rolling stock and supply spare parts for the repair and maintenance of locomotives, diesel engines, freight cars, trucks and other vehicles. Also, the Ukrainian side proposed Lithuania Ukrainian production buses of various modifications.
Ukrainian side proposed to liberalize the visa regime between the two countries, for example to implement a simplified visa procedure for thirty days in the summer.
The sides agreed on further cooperation in the operation of an open and transparent energy market in accordance with the principles of the Energy Charter Treaty.
