OREANDA-NEWS. December 7, 2012. NCOC, with the support of Agip KCO, the agent company responsible for Kashagan Phase I, hosted a media visit to Phase I project facilities.

A group of 20 international and Kazakhstani journalists were taken both offshore and onshore. Offshore, a designated boat took the journalists to islands A and D. The day started with the presentation on the project status by Planning Director Alain Guenot and Deputy External Relations Director Yerbolat Ospanov, followed by a trip to the Bolashak Onshore Processing Plant.

During the tour the journalists familiarized themselves with the significant progress made on Phase I of the project. This visit clearly demonstrated that seeing project facilities first-hand raised the awareness and appreciation of the complexity of the project by the media.

In the words of one journalist “this trip demonstrated the openness of NCOC towards the Kazakhstani community on the eve of an outstanding event – the launch of commercial oil production… We witnessed with our own eyes the uniqueness and complexity of the project as well as the efforts applied by the Consortium to start oil production as soon as possible.”
