OREANDA-NEWS. December 07, 2012. The Federal Passenger Company, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, has won the national Company of the Year 2012 award in the category Rail Transport made by the leading Russian media holding RBC, reported the press-centre of RZD.

Receiving the award, Mikhail Akulov, Vice-President of Russian Railways and CEO of the Federal Passenger Company, thanked the Expert Council for recognising it as the best company in its sector this year.

According to Akulov, as a leader in long-distance rail passenger services, the Federal Passenger Company transported over 110 million passengers in 2011. The number of passengers in 2012 is also expected to exceed 100 million. The FPC carriage fleet is the largest in Europe, with more than 23,000 units.

This year, the FPC has put in place a loyalty programme called RZD-Bonus and implemented a number of projects aimed at improving the level of service on long-distance trains.

"This year we celebrate 175 years of Russia’s railways and three years since the Federal Passenger Company were founded. We are leveraging rail transport’s century-old tradition of competence built up by generations of railway staff and employees by multiplying ambitious and innovative development plans focused on our customers," said Mikhail Akulov.
