TNK-BP Social Investments in Yugra to Exceed 157 mn Rubles
OREANDA-NEWS. December 07, 2012. TNK-BP informs that in 2013 it will invest over 157 mln rubles in social and charity projects in the territory of KhMAO-Yugra. The money will be used to build or recondition social facilities, support youth movements and organizations working with children, and implement healthcare and environmental education projects, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.
TNK-BP has been consistently implementing the strategy of efficient development in West Siberia in close interaction with the administrations of all the regions of the Company presence. Every year the Company establishes agreements on social and economic cooperation envisaging investments in such key areas as scientific research activities, education and culture, including that of indigenous minorities of the North, as well as healthcare and sports-related programs. In 2012, the overall amount of TNK-BP's social investments will be about USD 60 mln.
TNK-BP has already signed the agreements for 2013 with the administrations of Nizhnevartovsk and Raduzhny, as well as with the authorities of Surgut and Nizhnevartovsk Districts.
"TNK-BP demonstrates active community involvement in the regions of the Company presence. The social responsibility of the Company means first of all the development of the regional economy, creation of jobs, full and timely payment of taxes. TNK-BP is one of the major tax payers in KhMAO-Yugra contributing about 8% of the consolidated regional budget. Over the 9 months of 2012 the Company has transferred to the regional budgets and the consolidated treasury of KhMAO an amount exceeding 172 bn rubles, which is 14.3% more than in 2011. At the same time, being a responsible corporate citizen, TNK-BP understands how important it is to support the efforts of the regional authorities related to the development of the social sector, i.e. culture, sports, science and education. Therefore, investments in these focus areas are an essential part of the Company's activities in the region," notes Oleg Nam, TNK-BP Vice President, Director of "TNK-BP Zapadnaya Sibir" Branch.
