OREANDA-NEWS. December 06, 2012. NTT DATA Corporation has been making preparations since May 2012 to establish a subsidiary “NTT DATA Myanmar Co., Ltd.” in Myanmar, which has a large potential for economic development.

We recently received official permission from the government of Myanmar and began operations on November 8, 2012. It is our new location in Asia as an offshore development site, and targeting to develop 500 employees in the next five years.
Background and Purpose

NTT DATA is expanding offshore development sites for Japan in China, India, and Vietnam. Since the rapid progress in democratization, many Japanese enterprises have been expanding their businesses in Myanmar. Recognizing the large potential in the IT field, NTT DATA also established our office in Myanmar. We believe that the country has many advantages as an offshore development center for Japan, such as its cost competitiveness, abundant talented human resources, and the linguistic similarity between Burmese and Japanese.

Associated with the opening of this offshore development center, we will create jobs by employing local people, support development of IT professionals in collaboration with the University of Computer Studies, and contribute to modernizing Myanmar and to expand its economy.

The new subsidiary will be our offshore development center that mainly carries out software development projects outsourced from Japan. Beyond that, the company looks to provide support for Japanese companies operating in Myanmar, as well as to expand our business with local financial institutions and government and public agencies, based on our track record in Japan.
