OREANDA-NEWS. December 06, 2012. Within 9 months of 2012 production of canned vegetables and fruits declined 13.5% to 886.3 mln. leis (USD71.6 mln.) in Moldova. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, a total value of canned fruits and vegetables dispatched to domestic and external markets in January-September, 2012 amounted to a sum of 717.5 mln. leis. Canned fruits and vegetables were exported at a total sum of 559.6 mln. leis during this period.

As compared with the first 9 months of 2011, in January-September, 2012 production of vegetable and fruit juices increased 39.1% in natural terms to 26 mln.203.7 thou. l. Within this period production of canned fruits decreased 23.3% to 3 thou. 246.8 t., canned vegetables production increasing 7.9% to 21 thou. 105.2 t.

Canning factories of Moldova usually export 80-90% of a total volume of their production. Largest consumers of Moldovan fruit and vegetable products are Russia, Belarus and other countries.
