CEO of GAZ Group Honoured with Automotive Supply Chain Award
OREANDA-NEWS. December 06, 2012. Bo Andersson, President and CEO of GAZ Group, which is a part of Basic Element, one of the Russia’s largest diversified industrial groups, has been honoured with the 2012 Automotive Supply Chain Outstanding Achievement award, 2012, reported the press-centre of GAZ Group.
Mr Andersson received the honour at the Automotive Supply Chain Global Awards Gala Dinner in Frankfurt. He was recognised for his leadership in guiding GAZ back to financial health and securing the company’s position as Russia’s leading light commercial vehicle manufacturer. In particular, Mr Andersson was praised for driving through a radical new strategy for the business at a challenging time for the global economy.

Mr Andersson joined GAZ Group in 2009. Under his guidance new production strategy was implemented and GAZ Group has delivered impressive financial results. In 1H 2012, the company more than doubled year-on-year net profit which has enabled it to significantly increase investment in new projects. Under Mr. Andersson’s guidance GAZ has established cooperation with leading international automakers such as Volkswagen, General Motors and Daimler to manufacture vehicles at GAZ facilities. In August 2012 the company presented the GAZelle NEXT new generation of light commercial vehicle to be launched on the market in March 2013. This new product was designed and engineered in-house, it will broaden the selection of GAZ vehicles for the Russian market and will be a key focus for the company’s expansion into export markets.

The award was organised by Automotive Supply Chain, Europe’s leading automotive supply and logistics publication. The winners were chosen by an expert committee made up of leading peers in the automotive sector and automotive journalists covering the supply and logistics sectors.
