OREANDA-NEWS. December 05, 2012. TNK-BP and the Russian Federation Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief (EMERCOM) have signed an open-ended agreement on cooperation and the creation of an information exchange system as part of a program to improve industrial safety in all regions where the Company operates, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

The new system will help improve arrangements for communication, notification, information support and response during emergencies and relief operations. Under the agreement, TNK-BP and EMERCOM’s National Emergency Management Centre will exchange information on a daily basis via a videoconferencing system. In the event of an emergency, such as a natural disaster, the Company and the ministry will communicate in online mode. The development of cooperation between TNK-BP and EMERCOC will involve joint training exercises at the Company’s production and refining facilities in 2013.

According to Elena Kompasenko, Vice President, Health, Safety and Environment, thanks to this contract information will be received and exchanged as promptly as possible for coordinating efforts to prevent potential incidents at facilities in all regions where the Company has activities. “This contract is unique in the Russian oil & gas sector. I’m confident that our joint efforts will help to improve safety in all Company subsidiaries using the most effective methods available”, she noted.
