DTEK Appoints New Director of Power Generation Sergey Tazin
OREANDA-NEWS. December 03, 2012. The Management Board of DTEK has experienced changes. Sergey Tazin became a new director for DTEK’s generation business.
Before coming to DTEK, Mr. Tazin headed E.ON Russia, which is a subdivision of E.ON AG energy corporation. Earlier he managed Russian energy companies, namely OGK-3 (The Third Generation Company of the Wholesale Electricity Market) and EuroSibEnergo, occupied managerial positions in subdivisions of the international energy company AES for more than 7 years and spent 5 years working in General Electric (USA).
“Today, DTEK is undergoing major transformations as the company is expanding, facing new market challenges and carrying out a large-scale modernization of its equipment,” said DTEK’s CEO Maxim Timchenko. “By 2020, DTEK will have spent over 23 billion Hryvnias on the upgrades of 46 power units and the construction of new ones. I believe Sergey Tazin as a strong manager and accomplished power engineer with the experience of successful reorganisations in large international utility companies will greatly contribute to DTEK’s development.”
“The systemic and intensive upgrading of the power facilities currently conducted by DTEK simultaneously at nine thermal power plants is a complex process, which needs a highly professional approach,” said Sergey Tazin. “The company is entering a new stage of its development. I can already feel that DTEK has gained momentum and is swiftly moving forward. The company is changing its approaches to organisation of labour, time and resources management. My immediate tasks will be to build an effective system for DTEK’s thermal generation management, to improve operational reliability and efficiency, and to design and implement the strategy of DTEK’s generation development for 2013-2015. I am happy to join one of the most professional managerial teams in Ukraine,” Mr. Tazin said about his appointment.

Sergei Tazin was the General Director of E.ON Russia, the Russian unit of E.ON AG. In 2007-2008, he held the office of Executive Director of Wholesale Generating Company-3, in 2005-2007 - General Director of EuroSibEnergo (both in Moscow, Russia). Before coming to EuroSibEnergo Tazin held various positions in AES and General Electric. He started his career as a junior engineer in Consolidated Edison (New York, the USA).
In 2003, Tazin graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (USA) with BS and MS in Electric Power Engineering.
Sergey Tazin was born on 17 September 1961 in the town of Zubova Polyana (the Republic of Mordovia, Russia).

DTEK’s electricity distribution and sales segment includes five enterprises that collectively supply power to approximately 4.5 million customers – both individuals and legal entities.
DTEK Trading sells energy products in domestic and international markets. Coal exported by DTEK Trading is consumed by power plants, coking plants and iron and steel works in Ukraine as well as power plants and industrial facilities in Europe, Asia, North and South America and Africa. The Company also exports energy to Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Poland, Moldova, and Belarus.
DTEK’s consolidated revenues in 2011 amounted to UAH 39.6 billion; the Company’s net profit totaled UAH 3.5 billion. DTEK paid UAH 5.6 billion in taxes in 2011.
