In the first 9 months of 2012 it was put into operation 1567 apartments at a total floor space of 203.2 thou. sq.m., 26.9% down as compared with the same period of 2011. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, a number of private detached houses erected for money of their owners and put into operation equalled to 1177. Their floor space totalled 172.4 thou. sq.m., 7.7% down as compared with the same period of the last year.

This was 75.1% of all amount of residential housing put into service within January-September, 2012. In the first 9 months of 2012 it was put into operation 1022 apartments in urban areas of Moldova at a total floor space of 134.8 thou. sq.m., 38.2% down as compared with the same period of 2011. In rural areas it was built 545 detached houses at a total floor space of 68.4 thou. sq.m., 12.9% up as compared with the same period of 2011. In a total amount of housing put into operation, a share of that in urban areas declined from 78.3% in January-September, 2011 to 66.3% in January-September, 2012.

A share of housing in rural areas grew from 21.7% to 33.7%. The greatest amount of houses was put into operation in Chisinau and made up 890 apartments at a total floor space of 126.5, thou sq.m., which was 56.7% of the total amount of houses put into operation all around Moldova. In the first 9 months of 2012 brining housing into service declined 31.8% as compared with the same period of 2011. In 2011, it was brought into services 4.1 thou, of units of housing at a total floor space of 477.7 thou. sq.m. in Moldova, which was 12,5% less than in 2010.
