OREANDA-NEWS. December 03, 2012. The III Siberian Energy From and the XIII National Research-to-Practice Conference on “Energy Efficiency of the Urban Life-Support Systems” took place. The Head of the Department of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) for Control over Electric Power Industry, Vitaly Korolyov, was one the speakers, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The event organized by Krasnoyarsk Regional Authority was attended by Deputy Minister on Energy, Deputy Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Region, Deputy Head of the General Director of a branch of “FSK UES” OJSC – “MES Siberia”, as well as representatives of energy companies and expert community. The Forum focused on discussing a prospective plan of developing a Europe – Siberia Energy Bridge.

Vitaly Korolyov proposed a number of measures towards developing competition on the markets of electric power, particularly, in the regional aspect. He emphasized importance of enlargement of free power transfer zones in order to expand competitive pricing to the field of capacity and to further liberalize access to the wholesale market in order to ensure proper competition on retail markets of electric power.

“Today supporting competition is the main driver of developing the electric power industry. It is important that not only federal but also regional authorities as well as energy companies find it necessary to move in this direction”, pointed out Vitaly Korolyov.
