OREANDA-NEWS. November 30, 2012.  Mashinostroitelny Zavod (MSZ) has manufactured the first experimental fuel element for the SVBR-100 reactor, Aleksandr Filin, the chief designer of AKME-engineering, said as he spoke during the international conference “Innovative Designs and Technologies of Nuclear Power” that opened at NIKIET 27 November.

According to him, seven more fuel elements will be manufactured in December and should undergo all required tests. “At present time, we have an approved R&D program on fuel elements”, Filin said, adding that the SVBR-100 fuel elements will be tested on the BN-600 reactor at Beloyarsk-3.
