OREANDA-NEWS. November 30, 2012. The Expert Council of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) on Agro-Industry had a meeting to discuss proposals of business-community to develop competition in agro-industry to be further included in the Road Map for “Developing Competition and Improving Antimonopoly Policy” , reported the press-centre of FAS.   

The Expert also considered a draft strategy of developing antimonopoly regulation in the Russian Federation.

The Head of FAS Department for Control over the Authorities, Vladimir Mishelovin, informed the members of the Expert Council about FAS involvement in drafting the Road Map.

Other speakers included representatives of industry unions and associations who discussed trade mark-ups for the baby food sold in different constituent territories of the Russian Federation, development of competition on the meat market after Russia joining WTO and use of the international regulation experience of production of organic products in Russia. The Expert Council was also presented a concept of the Federal Law on traceability of the products of animal origin.

Deputy Head of FAS Andrey Tsyganov emphasized the importance of the raised issues. He pointed out that certain problems could already become the subject of antimonopoly investigations. Therefore, as part of refining the strategy of developing the antimonopoly regulation in the Russian Federation and the Road Map, the members of the Expert Council were asked to present their proposals aimed at developing competition and improving entrepreneurial climate in agro-industry, which would be taken into account for revising the policy documents.
