Brazilian mining giant Vale says it is wholly focused on technological solutions to improve the efficient use of natural resources and to reduce emissions from pollutants. Ozge Ibrahim spoke to the CEO of Vale's Technology Institute, Luiz Mello, to find out more about the company's vision for a sustainable global mining industry.

In 2009 Vale launched the Vale Technological Institute, known as ITV, in Belem, Brazil, which through scientific research for new technology, seeks to expand its knowledge and business in a sustainable manner. The Brazilian mining giant says its technological solutions are focused on environmental protection, with more efficient use of natural resources and reduction of emissions from pollutants.
