Stroytransgaz Completed Construction of Gas Distribution Network
OREANDA-NEWS. November 29, 2012. PJSC Stroytransgaz completed the works for the construction of the medium pressure gas distribution network, including the underwater section, in Greece. The gas pipeline is intended for gas supply to consumers in Halkis Area (Central Greece).
Stroytransgaz acted as the contractor of the project in consortium with the Greek company Prometheus Gas S.A. DEPA S.A; the Greek State Gas Corporation was the customer.
The construction of the gas distribution network was started in May 2010. Stroytransgaz developed the detail design of the onshore and offshore pipeline sections, supplied the main equipment and materials, and performed the construction of the pipeline with the utilities, calibration and hydraulic tests.
The gas pipeline includes 12 block valve stations, a swing station and 2 pig launcher and receiver stations. The line section of the onshore pipeline is approximately 20 km long. A telephone cable was laid throughout the pipeline length to ensure a remote control and the valves control systems, and a polyethylene pipe was laid for the future fibre optic cable.
The offshore pipeline was laid by horizontal directional drilling. Under the Avlida Strait bottom two steel pipelines (the main and the secondary ones) were laid, each 1 km long, for communications setting. A protective casing covers the first 60 meters of the both pipelines for better environment protection.
