Employees of Berezniki-4 Leave Message to Their Successors
OREANDA-NEWS. November 28, 2012. In 2012, Berezniki-4 mine and plant complex celebrates 20th anniversary. Potash production was launched at the site in 1992. In honour of the anniversary, there was a ceremony to bury a capsule with a message to future miners of Berezniki-4. Employees will be able to read it in 2042, when the mine turns 50.
Nikolay Dembovsky, Director of Berezniki-4, remarked in his congratulatory speech:
- Today we have something to be proud of: we are a team of professionals and are one of Uralkali’s largest and most rapidly developing production facilities. Our long serving employees have made a huge contribution to the enterprise. We now have ambitious and far-reaching plans. I hope that the mine, developed by us and our predecessors, will continue to grow, and that we remain one great team.
The honour of burying the capsule was given to Sergei Molchanov and Andrey Zubov, the mine’s former employees, who worked at the mine for almost 30 and 20 years respectively, and to Anastasia Grishina, an employee who has recently joined the team. They read out a message to future generations, which says the following:
"Today, Uralkali is a team of like-minded people and a global leader in the production of potash. The employees of Berezniki-4 have contributed to the company’s success. We hope that you have preserved what we left you and built on it to achieve high results. Today you celebrate the 50th anniversary of the mine. Please accept our congratulations and wishes for success, prosperity and further development. "
While Uralkali’s anthem was playing, the capsule was placed into a memorial stone located next to the industrial site of the mine’s administration.
After the ceremony, its key participants shared their thoughts.
Sergey Molchanov, a long serving former employee of Uralkali, commented:
- For me, this is a very significant event. In 1975, I came to the mine, when they had just started sinking shafts. I left Berezniki-4 in 2011 when the levels of output were stable, its capacity was expanding and modernisation projects were in the pipeline. I believe that in 30 years, when the capsule is opened, new technologies will have been introduced at the mine.
Anastasia Grishina, a weigher in the loading operations unit at Uralkali, commented:
- I came to work at Uralkali and have not been disappointed. The team is great, the work is interesting. So, in 30 years, I would like to be among those who will open the capsule laid by us today.
