OREANDA-NEWS. November 28, 2012. The share of loss-making companies in Belarus decreased to 5.8% (495 entities) of the total number as of October 1, 2012 from 6.8% as of October 1, 2011, an official with the National Statistics Committee told reporters.

Their net loss grew 37.2% to Br2.5 trillion Belarusian rubles (USD 292.4 million at the NBB rate).

The return on sales in January-September 2012 was at 10.4%, up from 10.1% in January-September 2011.

In the manufacturing sector, the share of loss-makers was at 10% as of October 1, 2012, down from 10.8% the previous year. The profitability of manufactured commodity sales reached 12.4% from 12.3% the year before.

The share of loss-makers in the construction sector reduced to 7.6% in January-September 2012 from 12.5% the previous year. The return on construction product sales grew to reach 6.8% as of October 1, 2012, from 4.4% the year before.

In agriculture, the share of loss-making enterprises was at 0.9% as of October 1, 2012, down from 1.1%. Profitability of sold products rose to 14.5% from 8.8%.

The share of loss-makers in the transportation sector stood at 5.5% as of October 1, 2012, up from 4.8% as of October 1, 2011.

The share of insolvent telecommunications companies stood at 6% as of October 1, 2012, unchanged since October 1, 2011. Profitability of sold products reduced to 17.1% from 19.4%.
