OREANDA-NEWS. November 28, 2012. This year, farmers will gather a harvest of vegetables over 32 million tons, of which almost 23 million tons of potatoes.

The corresponding amount of harvest will fully ensure food security of the country, because exceeds the population demand. Such stocks of vegetables under proper storage conditions will help ensure further stable price situation. This was announced by Oleksandr Sen, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food.

The Deputy Minister recalled that it is expected to gather more than 1.7 million tons of cabbages when the needs of the population is 1.5 million tons; table beet - 878.7 thousand tons when consumption is 606,000 tons; carrots - 897.6 thousand tons when 649 thousand tons of needs and over one million tons of onion when consumption is 763 tons.
