OREANDA-NEWS. November 23, 2012. Tata Power Delhi Distribution (TPDDL), as part of its ongoing affirmative action programme, celebrated its Annual Excellence Conclave 2012 and recognised and awarded over 100 students belonging to schedule caste and schedule tribe communities studying in class X, XI and XII in government schools in its distribution network of north and north-west Delhi. Praveer Sinha, CEO and ED, TPDDL, interacted with the students and gave away the scholarships and study material kits.

“The affirmative action programme proves to be a valuable bridge for those seeking higher education but are lacking financial resources to attain their dream. We are confident that the programme will continue to nurture talent and help them achieve their goals,” said Mr Sinha.

Several dignitaries from Department of Social Welfare, Delhi; SC / ST / OBC, Minorities and Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation; partnering NGOs and National Confederation of Dalit Organisations (NACDOR) were also present on the occasion.

Since 2007, as a part of its affirmative action programme, TPDDL has created a pool of 150 students at pre-board and board levels in 26 government schools in its licensed area every year. TPDDL provides educational support, including books, study material, stationary support and regular mentoring by TPDDL employees aiming to ignite aspirations and create academic and professional excellence amongst these students.

So far, around 1,000 students have been supported by TPDDL and results have been extremely encouraging, with the school pass-outs pursuing higher academic and professional pursuits.
