OREANDA-NEWS. November 23, 2012. During the 46th Annual Conference of the World Steel Association, in New Delhi (India), Gerdau was granted

the 2012 Safety and Health Excellence Recognition, which evaluates successful programs of occupational health and safety. The Company was awarded because of the Safety Multipliers project, which has recorded significant positive results since its implementation in 2004.

The program consists in assigning operators to act as safety multipliers within each operational team. The

safety multiplier's role is to monitor, provide support to team members, and encourage individual

responsibility for the group's safety. As a result of the program, employees are able to practice important

safety solutions to create a 100% accident-free environment.
