OREANDA-NEWS. November 22, 2012. An extensive renovation of Iovskaya HPP began. It’s the station of the Niva HPPs Cascade of JSC TGC-1.

The project includes the complete replacement of generator impellers, regulation and excitation systems, reconstruction of protection and automation. Instead propeller type turbines more efficient gate-blade turbines will be installed.

"Modernization will increase efficiency and reliability of generating units, as well as extend the working range, which will allow more rational use of hydropower reservoir of Iovskaya HPP and promptly adjust the load in accordance with the needs of the power system in our region", — said the director of the Niva HPPs Cascade Andrey Zharnikov.

According to the plan of work the first unit is to be replaced in 2013, the second - in 2014. Reconstruction of hydroelectric generating units at Iovskaya HPP is one of the priority projects of the investment program of TGC-1 in all regions of the company.
