Tata Steel Commences Commissioning Activities of Coke Oven Battery
OREANDA-NEWS. November 22, 2012. Honourable Union Minister for Steel, Shri Beni Prasad Verma today commenced the commissioning activities of Tata Steel's new Coke Oven Battery #10 and By-Product Plant at its Jamshedpur facility.
The commissioning activities commenced in the presence of Mr C S Verma, Chairman, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Mr D R S Choudhary, Secretary of Steel, Mr H M Nerurkar, MD Tata Steel and other senior officials from the company, senior officials from SAIL, union officials of Tata Steel and a large number of workers among others.
Shri Verma appreciated Tata Steel's contribution to the steel industry in India.
Built at a capacity of 0.7 million tonnes per annum this is part of Tata Steel's ambitious 9.7 MTPA expansion project happening in Jamshedpur. This will also improve the financial viability of the steel works significantly.
In the past one year, Tata Steel has very safely and successfully commissioned all major units of its expansion programme, which will together contribute to the project in Jamshedpur.
The Coke Oven Battery#10 and the By-Product Plant will go into full production in the month of December 2012.
