Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a federal law on the ratification of the agreement by the Russian side. The agreement will enter into force upon the exchange of information through diplomatic channels.

Recall, on the initiative of the State Customs Service of Ukraine in 2010-2011 was prepared the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Russian Federation on cooperation in joint control of persons, vehicles and goods on the Ukrainian-Russian state border.

The purpose of the Agreement - implementation of the agreements reached in 2010 during a meeting of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to strengthen Russian-Ukrainian cooperation in the economic and humanitarian units.

On October 18, 2011 the said Agreement was signed by the governments of Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

On January 13, 2012 the Agreement was ratified by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The practical implementation of this agreement will create the most favourable conditions for citizens, not only of Ukraine and the Russian Federation, as well as other countries when crossing the Russian-Ukrainian border.

After all, it provides a one stop for customs and border control by relevant services of both countries on the territory of a state.
