OREANDA-NEWS. November 22, 2012. Specialists of pig breeding complex “Petrovsky”, one of the objects of the project “PARK: Industrial-Agricultural Regional Clusters”, performed test measurement of the animals, reported the press-centre of Titan.

Altogether 60 pedigree sows were tested. “For estimation of pedigree value of the animals two indices are used: index of maternal line and index of final line. The first one includes such parameters as quantity of piglets during birth, digestion of forage, removable weight, number of piglets for removal, and the second takes into consideration tempo of growth, consumption and conversion of forage, thickness of backbone fat, percentage of lean meat”, - commented Chief Technologist of the pig breeding complex Olesya Ulyankina.

Received data was handed over to the supplier of the livestock – company Hermitage Genetics, which was analyzing the data in the course of one week and after the results gave the Omsk sows the pedigree index. The highest index – 295 – was received by a pig of strain large white. Let us mention, that one considers index of 190 units as highly productive. At the results of the tests 40 potential sows were selected, and they will continue to live on pedigree farm. Now they are being prepared for insemination, which will be conducted in November. Brood from highly-productive pigs is expected in March of next year.

Reference. To the tests one subjects animals which age is approximately 180 days and which weight does not exceed 110 kilograms. Aside from pedigree sows Omsk specialists also evaluated productivity of hybrid brood received through crossbreeding of maternal lines. Through all indices commercial animals demonstrated high results.

As of today the livestock on the pig breeding complex exceeds 26 000 head.
