Renaissance Capital and Nigerian Stock Exchange Hold Investor Clinic
OREANDA-NEWS. November 21, 2012. Renaissance Capital, the leading emerging markets investment bank, has joined forces with the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) for a one-day Investor Clinic that aims to engage the Nigerian institutional investor base, including pension fund administrators, asset managers and insurance firms, on the key technical and factual elements of asset and portfolio management. The Renaissance Capital/NSE Investor Clinic, which took place on 26 September in Lagos, is an on-hand master class delivered by award-winning Renaissance economists, NSE officials and government regulators. It aims to improve the knowledge base across a broad range of capital market stakeholder groups, ultimately contributing towards building robust capital markets. Participants gained insight into the longer-term Nigerian macroeconomic and regulatory environment, portfolio planning and rebalancing strategies, as well as recommendations on asset allocation. Oscar Onyema, CEO of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, said, “This clinic, in partnership with Renaissance Capital, is part of the exchange’s investor education programme, which is designed to provide a platform for local retail investors and institutional investors to learn from experts the right strategies that will enable them to ultimately make sound investment decisions. We hope the institutional Investor Clinic, in conjunction with other initiatives the exchange has embarked on, will continue to positively impact the market’s performance.” Yvonne Ike, CEO, West Africa, Renaissance Capital, said, “We are proud to partner with the Nigerian Stock Exchange on this significant initiative. Through the extensive pool of available resources and joint experience, the Investor Clinic is designed to update and challenge capital market participants and regulators on relevant market issues, providing a forum for introduction of future capital market initiatives and boosting investor confidence.”
The Renaissance Capital/NSE Investor Clinic is expected to continue with a number of sessions to be held later this and next year.
