OREANDA-NEWS. November 21, 2012. POSCO hosted the `2012 POSCO Family Shared Growth Festival` on November 7th at the POSCO Center, communicating and sharing activity results with small- and medium-sized businesses. Approximately 300 people attended the event, including CEO Chung Joonyang, POSCO Family company employees, and 1st~4th cooperating small- and medium-sized company employees, reported the press-centre of POSCO.

This year`s festival consisted of presentations on excellent cases, a celebration performance, a report on shared growth activity results, presentation of awards for excellent cases, greetings and congratulatory speeches, and themed performances. Awards for excellent cases were presented to small- and medium-sized companies in five categories—#shared results, #technological cooperation, #productivity innovation, #cooperation between small- and medium-sized companies, and #QSS.

Especially to motivate shared growth activities amongst POSCO Family internal employees, the POSCO and POSCO Family individual awards were newly organized this year.

Excellent tasks selected per session were # `Project to prevent dewfall and mold on balconies utilizing TRIZ` by POSCO E&C`s cooperating company Samhwa Paints (shared results session), # `Humidification desulfurizing agent development` by POSCO`s cooperating company UNICOH Special Chemicals (technological cooperation session), # `High strength/Anti-wear agent development utilizing POSCO slag` by POSCO`s cooperating company Dongdo Basalt Industries (productivity innovation session), and # `Shared growth activities between 1st and 2nd cooperating companies` by POSCO Comtech`s cooperating company Shinwoo Technologies (cooperation between small- and medium-sized companies). Lastly, during the QSS session, POSCO`s cooperating company Daeshin Urethan, POSCO`s client company Benda Sunkwang, and POSCO ICT`s cooperating company HIPOS jointly received the most excellent award. Four members of the POSCO Family were also presented individual awards for proactively leading shared growth activities. Fifteen other cooperating companies were presented runner-up awards in the sessions).

The event was held under the themed slogan of `Becomes Light,` holding the meaning of spreading the light of POSCO Family shared growth based on trust to the entire industry. At the `Proclamation of Light,` the last themed performance event of the day, CEO Chung Joonyang, as well as leading companies of POSCO Family`s five main business, steel, E&C, energy, ICT, materials, and chemicals, and small and medium company CEOs gathered together to reflect upon the meaning of `Becomes Light.`

CEO Chung Joonyang in his greetings said, ``POSCO was able to continuously maintain competitiveness even amidst the global economic crisis thanks to the great small- and medium-sized companies. All Family Companies should share the various shared growth activities with each other to maximize synergy, and make efforts to spread the POSCO type shared growth model, `FOCUS,` to the entire industry.``

POSCO plans to strengthen shared growth internally, centered on excellent shared growth activities found through the event, and continue to spread the shared growth culture externally.
