McKesson Salutes Nation Veterans
OREANDA-NEWS. November 21, 2012. As the nation honors our veterans, McKesson Corporation gives thanks to the 25 million veterans who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedoms. Through McKesson’s involvement in numerous veteran associations and initiatives, we work with veteran-owned businesses, provide veterans with career opportunities, and offer critical resources and support to those who have served and continue to serve our nation, reported the press-centre of McKesson.
McKesson’s success is built upon the strength of our veterans — from distribution centers to our executive management team, our leaders rely on the dedication, values and hard work of our veteran employees.
Becca Norris, VP, Strategic Business Initiatives for McKesson U.S. Pharmaceutical, served as an officer in the Navy for eight years. “Supporting our veterans and military family members is not only the right thing to do, it’s key to our success as a company,” said Norris. “My hope is that we are able to touch the lives of the millions of veterans and their families in our country.”
McKesson supports veterans and veteran-owned small businesses in various ways:
The McKesson Military Resource Group, made up of employees who are military veterans and military family members, supports McKesson’s efforts to respect, honor and partner with the military community.
As the largest supplier to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, McKesson supplies pharmaceuticals to all of the VA’s medical centers and outpatient clinics.
McKesson partners with small and diverse suppliers, including companies owned by veterans. To learn more, contact McKesson’s Supplier Diversity team.
By sponsoring San Francisco’s Fleet Week, McKesson is able to closely participate in an event that pays tribute to the U.S. armed forces.
McKesson participates in the prestigious Department of Veterans Affairs’ Mentor-Protege program that offers assistance to service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses and veteran-owned small businesses that will improve their performance capabilities as VA contractors.
“McKesson has supported me as a military father in more than one way. Most recently, my coworkers helped put together care packages for my son’s infantry unit and sent them over to Afghanistan. Their spirits were lifted more than they had been in months, and McKesson was to thank for that,” said James Francis, MPS&A Systems Manager.
