Express-AM6 Repeater System Delivered to ISS-Reshetnev
OREANDA-NEWS. November 20, 2012. The repeater system, supplied by the Canadian company MDA for the telecommunications spacecraft Express-AM6, has arrived safely to Academician M.F. Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems.
A repeater system is an integral part of satellite payload which is designed to receive, amplify and transmit signals to ground stations. The Express-AM6 spacecraft’s repeater system incorporates 72 active C-, Ku-, Ka- and L-band transponders. Specialists from ISS-Reshetnev, NII Radio and MDA are currently carrying out incoming testing which is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
The Reshetnev Company is the prime contractor under the Express-AM6 project. It is responsible for the platform and payload module structure, satellite integration, testing and pre-launch preparation.
ISS-Reshetnev is building Express-AM6 around its advanced heavy-class Express-2000 platform for the Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC). The spacecraft is intended to provide a comprehensive range of services including digital television and radio broadcasting in the territory of Russia, mobile presidential and government communications, multimedia services (telephony, videoconferencing, data transmission, Internet) as well as to serve VSAT communications network. The satellite is due to launch in 2013.
