The official opening ceremony of Scientific & Educational center of TPU (Tomsk Polytechnic University) - R-Pharm “Academy of pharmaceutical and biotechnological Industries” was held in terms of Forum “Investment seasons – 2012”. The event was attended by Sergey Zhvachkin, Governor of Tomsk Region; Boris Titov, Business Ombudsman under President of the Russian Federation; Andrey Nikitin, General Director of ASI; Alexey Repik, Chairman of the Board Group, group of companies “R-Pharm”, Co-Chairman of All-Russia Business Association “Delovaya Rossiya” (“Business Russia”); Abdigali Bakibaev, Departement Chairman on physical and analytical chemistry of Institute of Natural Resources of TPU; Alexey Mazurov, Vice-principal on financial and economic work in TPU. First-year students of master program “Engineering in biotechnological and pharmaceutical Industries” attended the opening ceremony. The education will be executed by best foreign and Russian experts both of pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries. The internship abroad and in leading Russian industry enterprises is planned within the education program.

The project “Academy of Pharmaceutical Industry” is aimed at the creation of federal innovation platform focused on education of biotechnologists and pharmacists (basing on Tomsk Polytechnic University). The main project partner is group of companies “R-Pharm”, the leading company in pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries. Total amount of project investments is 375 mln. Rubles for three years.

Among the main advantages of the Scientific and Educational center of TPU – R-Pharm are the opportunity to undertake the internship on the leading world-known enterprises, Universities and education centers, the education process is made by business representatives, representatives of leading HEI’s and experts of Russian and international pharmaceutical companies.

The Center is equipped by the advanced laboratory and experimental-industrial equipment, including the first automatic controlled (with controllability in the Internet) German biofermenter of Biostat C plus of the latest modification in Russia. Further the center re-equipment and creation of R&D-center in sphere of biopharmaceutics are planned.

Sergey Zhvachkin, Governor of Tomsk Region, paid quests’ attention to the symbolism of the event – the newest education equipment is installed on the University furniture, which age is 116 years. “It’s very symbolic. We possess the basis, history and traditions that allow us to develop innovations”. “The Center of TPU – R-Pharm was created within the shortest period of time. This is the first project that was implemented by Agency in the quickest period of time than ever before” – said Andrey Nikitin, General Director the Agency of Strategic Initiatives. “I would like to thank the Governor of Tomsk Region, group of companies “R-Pharm”, the management of Tomsk Polytechnic University. “On the example of “Academy of Pharmaceutical and Biotechnological Industries” we want to build the education model of world-class specialists who will be able to compete with their foreign colleagues. The graduates of this project should further make their employers the leading industry companies. The pilot project is intended to change the education system in Russia in many senses. And I’m happy that it is implemented here in Russia. We have lots of plans here in Tomsk region that will fulfill the region potential that we have”. Alexey Repik, Chairman of the Board of Directors of group of companies “R-Pharm”, totally agrees with Sergey Zhvachkin, Governor of Tomsk Region, saying that Tomsk region is the best place for realization of this pilot project as it is represented by strong human capital assets, huge resources for growth in innovative sphere. New “Academy of Pharmaceutical and Biotechnological Industries” will become the open platform for fruitful cooperation. The union of business, regional administration and polytechnic university is the form of synergy that will bring weighty results.” Abdigali Bakibaev, Departement Chairman on physical and analytical chemistry of Institute of Natural Resources of TPU, marked: “Today we see the huge lack of true specialists in pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries. TPU will become the first HEI that will undertake the manpower training”. In his opinion the masters’ training in research sphere, who should become soon the Nobel winners is the next step and five-six specialists of such level will be good result for Russia”.
