FAS Took Part in Competition Forum in Sofia
OREANDA-NEWS. November 19, 2012. Deputy Head of FAS Russia Andrey Tsyganov took part in Competition Forum in Sofia, organized by the Commission for Protection of Competition of the Republic of Bulgaria and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
The Forum goal is to discuss and implement the best world practices of competition enforcement in the Baltic States. The Forum is also an active platform for technical assistance, experience exchange and consultations in the field of competition policy.
Andrey Tsyganov addressed the 2nd Plenary Session on “Competition Advantages for Low-Income Population”. Deputy Head of FAS informed the audience about the results of FAS efforts towards developing competition on the markets of international telephony and air transportation, health care and agro-industry, and commerce. The results achieved by FAS Russia undoubtedly influenced price reduction for socially important food products, the rates for cellular service and air transportation, and helped provide affordable drugs.
At the session on “Cooperation and Integration in Network”, Andrey Tsyganov discussed the main areas of FAS work at the international level. FAS cooperates with foreign competition authorities not only on the bilateral level but also under the umbrellas of ICAP, the Common Economic Space, BRICS.
Deputy Head of FAS also pointed out at effective results of the activities of joint Austria – Russia Working Group on Pricing on Oil and Oil Products Markets, which is one of the priorities of international efforts of FAS Russia.
