Moldcell and Orange Moldova Received 4G License
OREANDA-NEWS. November 15, 2012. The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communication and Information Technologies issues the 4G license to Moldcell and Orange Moldova. According to ANRCETI press service, the mobile communication providers acquired the license after paying a fee of 10 mln. euros (expressed in MDL) each to the state budget.
At the end of September, ANRCETI invited all mobile communication providers of Moldova, Orange Moldova, Moldcell and Moldtelecom, to apply for the 4G license. Acquiring the 4G license makes it incumbent for Moldcell and Orange Moldova to provide the minimal set of 4G services (data transmission, mobile internet access, etc), and launch them no later than a year since the moment of obtaining the license.
The companies committed to cover with 4G services a territory of Moldova where at least 25% of the population live. 4G services are based on IMT (International Mobile Telecommunications) technologies, providing data transmission at a speed of up to 100 Mbps, which is several times higher than in 3G networks. 4G technologies enhance quality of mobile Internet, speed up data transmission, allow holding mobile video conferences and use other modern mobile applications.
