OREANDA-NEWS. November 15, 2012. At the 37th session of the Interstate Council on Antimonopoly Policy (ICAP) in Kiev, ICAP and Austria’s Federal Competition Authority signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

On behalf of ICAP, the Memorandum was signed by the Council Chairman, the Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, Igor Artemiev, and on behalf of Austria – the Head of Austria’s Federal Competition Authority, Theodor Tanner.

Under the Memorandum, the antimonopoly bodies of the CIS states and Austria’s Federal Competition Authority will cooperate in such important areas as improving the legislative framework of competition policy, exchanging experience in investigations related to violations of the antimonopoly law, developing academic and methodological basis of research in antimonopoly policy and law.

The Memorandum provides for joint investigations of antimonopoly violations on cross-border markets. The parties will also organize consultations, theme workshops and practical training on competition policy.

“The Memorandum increases the role of ICAP at the level of sub-regional economic cooperation within the CIS space as well as at the international level, which meets the long-term interests of the signatories to the Treaty “On Harmonized Antimonopoly Policy” of 25th January 2000 and conform to the global trends”, emphasized Igor Artemiev.
