"Diversity is an important part of sustainable and responsible entrepreneurship. Through sustainability we ensure society's trust in our business. We are among the first companies in Estonia that are willing and ready to assume responsibility for supporting the development of society," Priit Perens, Head of Swedbank in Estonia, said.

The Swedbank Group follows a social activity plan for 2011–2014 that defines its goals and activities in various areas, including employment conditions and work environment, work-life balance, competency and potential-based recruitment, salary issues, discrimination, equal treatment and diversity.

The main focus of the conference "Diversity in Business" that was held in Tallinn was on questions relating to the promotion of staff diversity in enterprises.

Seventeen companies participating in the conference signed the Estonian Diversity Charter, which is a voluntary initiative whereby companies agree to take steps in promoting the principles of diversity and equal treatment within their enterprise.
