OREANDA-NEWS. November 13, 2012. China Legal Aid Foundation congratulated ICBC in a letter to the Bank earlier. ICBC joining the "1+1" Legal Aid Volunteers Program has been awarded as one of the nationwide "70 Unique Approaches to Excel in Performance" by the Executive Office of Central Leader Group of Excel in Performance in September, after winning the "China Charity Award", the highest charity award presented by Chinese government, in April this year.

The "1+1" Legal Aid Volunteers Program is a large charity program initiated by six Departments including the Ministry of Justice, Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, China Legal Aid Foundation. ICBC, being an executive member of the Council, actively supported the "1+1" China Legal Aid Volunteers Program.

On a regular basis, China Legal Aid Foundation called up lawyers and university students who volunteer to work in impoverished counties in Western China where lawyers are absent or there is a serious shortage, and provide legal aid services to the poor folks there, without any compensation. The program is instrumental to maintain a stable and harmonious society, and recognized by the public, local party committees and the government departments. Winning the award demonstrates ICBC good image in supporting charity initiatives.
