OREANDA-NEWS. November 12, 2012. Innovators from Karelia have taken part in the Moscow International Forum for Innovative Development, Open Innovations that was held from October, 31 to November, 3.

Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Karelia in cooperation with Petrozavodsk State University has organized the exposition with innovative developments of scientists and innovatively active enterprises of Karelia. Innovators of Petrozavodsk State University, Nelan-Oxide Plus Ltd., Schungiton Ltd., Carbon-Release, ATM have presented their achievements. Altogether, 11 Karelian developments and projects have been displayed.

Participation in the exhibition has facilitated search for potential partners and customers of products for Karelian participants. There have been established contacts which in the long term will promote modernization and development of already developed technologies. Our neighbours from Finland have also taken an interest in Karelia's exposition.

Nelan-Oxide Plus Ltd. run on the basis of Karelian State Pedagogical Academy with its projects in the field of nano-coatings on metals and their alloys has drawn attention of such substantial Russian companies as Technoexpress and Alpha, and Finnish Pikka-San.

A system of remote monitoring of the work of objects of heating and housing and communal services in the Republic of Karelia offered by ATM Ltd. attracted interest of regional participants of the exhibition and visitors. The ATM's development is used in 22 regions of Russia and abroad. Communication with representatives of various companies, such as Siemens, Inkram, ELTEX, OBEH, etc., has shown that the developed system can be used for chemical and radiation protection of the air and water environment. It is obvious, that in the near future the system will find application in all regions of Russia, and in a number of foreign countries.

Serious consideration was paid to one of the projects by Petrozavodsk State University Wireless Location-Finding System which is extensively introduced at the moment in mines of Kuznetsk Basin and in hotel business.

Schungite has drawn the attention of visitors of Karelian exposition. The patented ways of thermal modification of schungite substances and production of schungite nanopowder hold out a hope of their use in composite materials with special qualitative properties.

Karelia's participation in the forum has shown that innovative products of great importance in the modern hi-tech world are produced in the republic, and that the state support in the field of development of innovative activity pays off. Appreciation of our achievements and projects to be implemented inspires hope that in the long term Karelia will be delivering not only primary resources, but high technology produce as well.
