Skolkovo Business School and Shell Held "Student Energy Debates"
OREANDA-NEWS. November 12, 2012. The “Student Energy Debates” took place on the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO Campus. Finalists of the contest of student works held by the SKOLKOVO business school and Shell among students of the Russian universities and institutes have discussed the topic, “The world demand on natural gas may significantly rise by 2050. Respectively, what opportunities are opening to Russia and what should be done in order to take advantage of these opportunities?”
The “Student Energy Debates” participants have debated the increase of energy resources consumption in the world, development of new gas markets, future of pipeline and liquefied natural gas, necessity of new oil and gas technologies elaboration, the role of the state in the world energy policy. After the discussion they have answered the jury’s questions. On the jury board there were: Konstantin Simonov, head of National Energy Security Fund, Maxim Shub, regional PR Vice-President in Russia and the CIS of Shell, Irina Zamarina, head of HIS CERA Russia, Sergei Nikitin, publisher of the Oil & gas vertical line magazine. Tatiana Mitrova, head of Global Energy of the SKOLKOVO business school Energy Centre, has moderated the debates and joined the jury board as well.
Ali Berberov, postgraduate of the physical and colloidal chemistry chair at Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, was named the winner of the debates. Among the finalists there were students from MGIMO, MSU, Higher School of Economics and St. Petersburg International Institute of Economics and Politics.
