OREANDA-NEWS. November 12, 2012. Sakhalin Energy has launched a new awareness campaign to promote use of safety belts and child safety seats. Black and white posters and billboards urging people to wear seat belts appeared in the streets of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk in October 2012, reported the press-centre of Sakhalin Energy.

The ingenuity of the project lies in its laconism and a strong visual impact. This time Sakhalin Energy employees became the characters for the poster designs used in the social awareness campaign. This is yet another form of volunteerism which is quickly gaining popularity among the company employees.

Moreover, this new Sakhalin Energy campaign pursues the same aim as its long-term road safety program. It covers various measures designed to ensure safety of the company and its contractors’ personnel, as well as the programs which promote safe driving culture in the Sakhalin Oblast. The latter are implemented through the Sakhalin Road Safety Council in which the company participates.

The underlying idea to present messages of any information campaigns through visual images first originated in the late 1990-es in Norway. In 2008, a similar promotional event took place in Murmansk. The characters of the billboards in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk are different, but they serve the same purpose – to remind drivers and their passengers that is it a must to use safety belts and child safety seats.
