OREANDA-NEWS. November 08, 2012. KPO has announced the successful completion of a water supply project in the Uspenovka Village in the Burlin District. The project was implemented as part of KPO’s social infrastructure development programme, reported the press-centre of KPO.

This project was aimed at providing the residents of the Uspenovka Village with a stable water supply for the summer irrigation of farmland and other domestic purposes.

This project was completed as a result of close cooperation of the Village Council of the Uspenovskiy Village, the local administration and KPO. KPO’s total investments into this project were \\$250,000. The main contractor was RemStroyByt LLP.

Officials from the Burlin District Maslikhat, the Uspenovskiy Village Akimat, Village Council members, KPO employees as well as representatives from contractors, the local community and the media took part in an expanded session of the Village Council of the Uspenovka Village devoted to the successful project implementation.

Secretary of the Burlin District Maslikhat, Adilkhan Kulikeshev, said,”The completion of this project is a big event for all of us, since the old water system had not been repaired since 1961. “Over the last few years, thanks to KPO’s social investments, local communities have received many new healthcare, education and cultural facilities; and improvements in the water supply system were made.  I would like to thank you on behalf of the Maslikhat,” he added.

The total length of the new pipeline is 10.5 kilometres.  As part of the project, a new pumping station has also been constructed. In addition, new water supply pipes have been connected to 130 households in the Uspenovka Village as well as public organisations.

Community Relations Section Head Zhanar Kazhiddenova, said, “This project demonstrates KPO’s social commitments in the region, and it is a good example of KPO’s corporate social responsibility.  The cooperation of the local government administration, Village Councils and KPO results in an open dialogue and mutual trust thus ensuring the effective use of Karachaganak’s potential”.

During the meeting, village residents had an opportunity to ask questions of KPO experts and contractors related to the project.

The Village Councils were set up in 2005 in compliance with a Memorandum of Mutual Understanding in the Berezovka, Uspenskiy, Zharsuatskiy villages located near the Karachaganak field.

The Village Councils were established in the Berezovska, Uspenovsk, Priuralne Zharsuat  rural districts in 2005 based on a tripartite memorandum to inform the public on KPO’s activities for the development of the Karachaganak field.  This effort included disseminating information on environmental activities and steps taken to improve social infrastructure in the rural districts.
In turn, KPO evaluates proposed projects in terms of their priority and relevance, technical feasibility and financing opportunities.
