OREANDA-NEWS. November 07, 2012. After three years’ devotion to R&D, WISCO has, for the first time,  successfully produced high strength sport welding straps to substitute for the import. The price is RMB2000/ton lower than that of the import, which can reduce the packaging cost of WISCO by RMB 5 millions per year, reported the press-centre of WISCO.    

High strength spot welding straps are used for the packaging of high-end steel products like automotive sheets, household appliance sheets and etc.. Thus the straps should have high tensile strength, excellent elongation property and good protection to the product. High strength spot welding straps have significant influence for steel enterprises to improve productivity and upgrade the products. WISCO used to import such strapping material, and the price is higher than RMB 10000 per ton, which increased the strapping expense and sost of WISCO.

In order to enhance the competitiveness of WISCO product and reduce the strapping expense, in October 2009, leaders of Wuhan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. required the cooperation of production, sales and research departments to research and develop the high strength spot welding straps. After unremitting efforts, WISCO successfully produced 249 tons of high grade spot welding straps which has been applied in the Cold Rolling General Plant to substitute for the import. The qualification rate of the straps is 100% and the properties of the product can fully satisfiy the customers.
